Sumner County Animals

A new page added to our website listing businesses in Sumner County that are "Pet Friendly". If you know of a business that is not on this listing please notify us and we will be glad to verify and post ([email protected])

When visiting a 'Pet Friendly' business, PLEASE keep in mind that they DO NOT have to allow pets (service animals excepted). We, as pet owners, appreciate that they do and have to realize that their policy can quickly be changed to "No Pets Allowed" if it becomes a problem or if they encounter 'customer complaints' relating to pets being on the premises. While we are their customers, our pets are their guests and need to be on their best behavior. The following rules for visiting with your pets will help prevent issues

VISITING PETS: Please bring only good mannered and healthy pets. No Barkers, aggressiveness or with other social issues. No 'in season' pets. Pets should be up to date on vaccinations and wearing their rabies tag (the law). Make sure your animal is CLEAN and not a heavy shedder. Dirty or smelly animals are not welcome.

KEEP THE PET UNDER CONTROL: ALWAYS short leashed and securely harnessed or collared. DO NOT allow your animal to 'sniff' or jump on others ... maintain 'no contact' with other customers unless it's at their request. Try to sit away from others if in a seating environment, such as a restaurant. Remember that some people do not like animals or have a fear of them ... not all people are 'animal friendly' and these will be the first to file a complaint.

PET NEEDS: Make sure your pets needs are met ... take a couple of treats, a water dish and water with you. If in a restaurant area, keep your pets OFF the tables and chairs ... animal should be positioned on the floor at your feet or by your side.

CLEAN UP: Give your pet an opportunity to relieve themselves before visiting. Take clean up supplies ... paper towels, poop bags (heaven forbid that you would need them!!), and some disinfectant spray with you in case there is an 'accident'. A pooping or peeing pet will almost guarantee a 'complaint'.

ACCESS FOR YOUR PET: No animals (service animals excepted) are allowed in an enclosed establishment that serves or prepares food. Eating establishments allowing pets must have an outside eating area with outside access which must be used (do not take your pet through the main restaurant area). Some businesses may only allow certain pets, such as dogs.

"THANKS!!": Be sure to thank the business for being a 'pet friendly' establishment.
